Elsie E. Waite
July 21, 1929 - February 16, 2010

Elsie Waite, Sioux Falls, SD, died February 16, 2010, at her home. She was 80.

Elsie E. (Niemann) Waite was born on July 21, 1929, in Pipestone, MN, to Walter and Alma (Schriever) Niemann.

Elsie was united in marriage to Harold G. Waite on April 8, 1949, in Pipestone, MN. The couple lived in Pipestone for three years before moving outside Pipestone to the Waite family farm in 1952. Elsie became a homemaker and loving mother. In her free time, she enjoyed attending extension clubs with her mother-in-law.

In 1962, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD. For a period of time, Elsie worked as a retail clerk for Michael’s and Burke’s in downtown Sioux Falls. A longtime bowler, Elsie’s passion in life was bowling. For decades, she was involved in several area leagues and at one time was involved in five different leagues. Over the last decade, she bowled in various leagues along with her special friend and bowling buddy, Ron Scott.

Elsie was a member of First Presbyterian Church. In the center of her life were her grandchildren. She cherished spending time with them. Elsie found humor in everything. She had her little “grandma-sayings” that always brought a smile to the faces of her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed the company of others. Elsie was never one to complain. Blessed with a happy and positive outlook on life, she will be forever loved.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Harold Waite, Sioux Falls; son, Blair Waite (Donna), Custer, SD; daughters, Vicki Husman (Larry) and Nancy Rohlena (Jeff), both of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grand-children; brother, Bill Niemann (Viola); sisters, Evelyn Kroger, Gladys Fallon (Jack), Margaret Dickerson, Marlys Wright (Chuck), and Janice Polzen (Les). She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John; and sisters, Wilma and Jeannie.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 am Monday at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue. Visitation begins at 9:00 am Sunday, with the family present to greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon.
