Virginia E. Callahan

Virginia Callahan, Sioux Falls, SD, died February 22, 1910, at Good Samaritan Center. She was 95.
Virginia E. (Pierce) Callahan was born November 19, 1914, in Neillsville, WI, to Walter and Elsie (Wenzel) Pierce. Baptized in the Methodist church, Virginia and her family moved to Sioux Falls when she was a teen.
She was united in marriage to William Callahan in Canton, SD on June 9, 1934. the couple made their home in Sioux Falls, where Virginia became a homemaker and loving mother to her two daughters. She loved homemaking and was an excellent cook. Virginia would always make sure to have a full dinner table set and at all times accompanied a meal with dessert. She liked to bake cookies and homemade pies. William Callahan preceded her in death on May 27, 1980.
Compassionate and gracious, Virginia would always keep track of birthdays and anniversaries of family and friends and always sent out cards for special occasions. She looked forward to Saturdays when she would go to the beauty solon and out for lunch with her daughter, Bonnie. The two enjoyed each others company immensely. Sunday was always reserved for church services at her home church, Wesley United Methodist, where Virginia had been a member for decades. She was involved in a number of activities including Esther Circle. She was also a member of the El Riad Shrine Auxilary. During the last decade of her life, Virginia and daughter Charlene were blessed to have shared their home together.
Outgoing and caring, Virginia will be long remembered for her good nature and zest for life.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Charlene Snyder, Bonnie Kiley; and grandson, Troy Snyder, all of Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, at Wesley United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 pm Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue.
