Ronald John Carpenter, son of Donald and Genevieve (Adams) Carpenter, was born September 6, 1947 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up and received his education in Sioux Falls. Ronald then entered the Army serving four years in Vietnam, and then another two years in the Air Force.

He returned to Sioux Falls and began his career with Northwestern Bell. On June 23, 1977 he was united marriage to Linda Buol in Sioux Falls. Before he retired at the age of 50, Ron worked with the phone company in Boise, ID.

Throughout his life, Ron had always valued family, being a loving husband and father, and especially taking care of his grand kids. He enjoyed riding his Harley, collecting coins, off road racing, and traveling all over the country in his motor home. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Linda, daughter, Chelsey Hanisch, sons, Jason, Chad and Sylvan, all of Sioux Falls, five grandchildren, brother, Rodney (Jane), of Sioux Falls, six sisters, Sandra Polzin, of Sioux Falls, Cheryl (Gary) Strang, Hartford, SD, Candis (James) Newman, Karla (Dave) Newman, Pamela (Bruce) McDowell, and Kim (Tom) Green, all of Sioux Falls.

His parents, brother Sylvan, sister, Deborah and son Ronald A. Carpenter, preceded him in death.

Funeral services begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 27th at Miller Funeral Home 13th & Main Ave. The family will greet friends from 5-7:00 pm Monday at Miller Funeral Home.
