Robert G. Duffus, son of Theral and Frieda (Johanssen) Duffus, was born December 10, 1926 at Pipestone, MN. He lived in the Pipestone and Tracy, MN areas before graduating from Pipestone High School in 1944. Bob attended Macalester College for a short time before serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to college and received his degree. He was a member of the debate team in high school and college. He was a speaker at many conferences and meetings during his professional career. Bob worked for Aetna Life & Casualty for 35 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a past member of Westward Ho Country Club in Sioux Falls.
Bob was united in marriage with Janet McCutchan on September 1, 1948 at St. Cloud, MN. Following their marriage the couple lived in Minneapolis, MN, Naperville, IL, and Randolph, NJ before moving to Sioux Falls in 1984. They have made their home in Brandon, SD since 2004.
Grateful for having hsaed his life are his wife, Janet; two sons, John Duffus and his wife, Rebekah, Davenport, IA, James Duffus and his wife, Catherine, Newark, DE; five grandchildren, Katie, Brett, Allison, Colin and Paige Duffus; two great-grandchildren, Alec and Charlotte Duffus; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bob’s family requests that memorials be directed to the Bethany Meadows Foundation.
