John Forsberg, age 56, died July 24, 2010 in Sioux Falls after a courageous battle with cancer. His funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 28th at Rustic Hills Community Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon with the family present from 7-8 pm on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home (507 S. Main).

John Forsberg was born February 20, 1954 to John G. and Helen (Stahr) Forsberg in Sioux Falls, SD, where he lived most of his life. He married Jeanie Westcott on December 16, 1972 in Sioux Falls. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and Korea. He had an honorable discharge in 1977 and they returned to Sioux Falls and made that their home.

During his career, he served in the South Dakota National Guard, retiring in 1995. He worked for Lewis Drugs, Sioux Falls Paratransit and Wal-Mart. John was a member of the Rustic Hills Community Church.

John loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling and looked forward to fishing. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. He was looking forward to the birth of his seventh grandchild.

John is survived by his wife Jeanie of thirty-eight years, Sioux Falls; children John Forsberg Jr. (Connie), Sioux City, IA; Amanda (Royal) Volkers; Rebekkah (Jeffrey) Buckmaster; and Adam, all of Sioux Falls. Six grandchildren: Aleah Volkers, Alex Volkers, Dustin Volkers, Caleb Volkers, Zachary Buckmaster, Matthew Buckmaster and one step-grandson, Maxwell Nelson; his mother Helen Forsberg, sister Gayla (Brad) Petsche and brother Thomas (Janet) Forsberg.
