Richard Orville Kjos, 86, passed away July 26, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am Friday, July 30, 2010 at First Assembly of God. Visitation will begin 12:00pm Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00pm with a prayer service at 7:30pm.

Richard Orville Kjos was born in Mott, North Dakota on September 10, 1923 to Edward and Edna (Husby) Kjos. He received his education at Mott Public Schools. In 1940 Richard entered in CCC Camp in Kenmare, North Dakota for six months. In 1941 he moved to Sioux Falls and worked for John Morrell & Co. for the winter months, due to the war, Richard had to go back to the farm. In the fall of 1941, he returned to Sioux Falls and worked for John Morrell & Co. for the winter months, due to the war, Richard had to go back to the farm. In the fall of 1941, he returned to Sioux Falls and worked for Al Borgen and Bob Trager and Jay Shon Chevrolet for the next 24 years.

Richard was united in marriage to Bernice Dell Hofer, daughter of Dave and Elsie Hofer. Richard was also employed at Sears Auto Center for 4 ½ years, Transport Inc. for 7 ½ years DUAL for 6 ½ years and finally at Woods DUAL through Manpower for 11 years. Richard retired in 1996.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Kjos, Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters, Phyllis (Richard) Flaskey, Sioux Falls, SD, Verna Lingo, Sioux Falls, SD, Carolene (Todd) Seitz, Anchorage, AK; 5 grandchildren, Mark, Cory, Matthew, Jordan, Ashley; 4 reat-grandchildren, Tyler, Allen, Tate, Chase; two sisters, Ione Kjos, Twila Hawn; and brother, Donald Kjos. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Olive; and son-in-law, Randy.
