Dawn M. Carlson
June 21, 1925 - July 29, 2017

Dawn Mae Carlson, 92, formerly of Hartford, SD died on Saturday July 29, 2017 at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls.

Dawn Mae Schneider was born in Austin, MN to Robert G. and Anna (Harms) Schneider on June 21, 1925. She was raised mainly in the Beloit, Iowa and Enid, Oklahoma before her family made their home in Canton, SD. Dawn graduated from Canton High School in 1943.

Dawn moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1949 to begin her career with John Morrell and Company where she worked as a Billing Clerk until her retirement in 1989.

Dawn while working at John Morrell and Company met and fell in love with Robert Dale Carlson. Dawn and Robert were united in marriage on July 16, 1955 in Luverne, MN. The couple first lived in Sioux Falls until the mid-1960ís when they built their home outside of Hartford, SD. Robert passed away on January 5, 2005. Dawn then moved to Sioux Falls again, residing at Dow Rummel Village.

Dawn was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hartford, SD and the Renner American Legion Auxiliary.

Dawn enjoyed reading, working on needlepoint, and along with Robert traveling, hunting, fishing and especially attending auctions and rummage sales. Above all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Dawn is survived by 4 sisters-in-law: Helen Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD, Betty Stennett of Park Ridge, IL, Leone Carlson of Scottsbluff, NE and Amanda (Donald) Johnson of Yankton, SD; Goddaughter, Sandra Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Dale Carlson.
