Sioux Falls – Vivian G. Farrell, 92, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

A visitation will be 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at George Boom Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hills of Rest Memorial Park.

Vivian Gertrude Servold, the daughter of John and Julia (Erickson) Servold was born August 22, 1917 in Oldham, SD. The family moved to Sioux Falls when Vivian was a small child, where she received her education.

On November 19, 1934, Vivian was united in marriage with Argyle Farrell in Sioux Falls, SD. Argyle passed away March 23, 1999. Vivian worked for Manchester Biscuit Company for 15 years, and then for Hiland Potato Chip Company for the next five years. She retired in 1966.

Vivian was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #628, and a former member of the Baker’s and Confectioner’s Union. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, sewing, and going to the dog races. Vivian and Argyle liked to camp in the Black Hills and at the Missouri River, and they also wintered in Arizona for 20 years.

Grateful for having shared her life are a son, William (Eloye) Farrell of Hartford, SD; five grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Wineinger, Lori (Andy) Phelps, Chris Farrell, Arvin Aaberg, Michelle (Sean) Nimick; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tasha, Nichole, Brandon, Amber, Kyle, Katie, and Kelsey; two great-great-grandchildren, Brody and Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Argyle; a daughter, Patricia Aaberg on October 17, 2000; a grandson, William Cunningham; three sisters, Nellie, Ann, and Doris; six brothers, Gus, John, Joe, Art, Nels, and Don.

The family has requested that memorials be directed to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or the American Diabetes Association.
