Agnes M. Huizenga

Agnes Marie Huizenga, age 97, died on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Good Samaritan Society Center in Sioux Falls.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with burial to follow at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Agnes Marie Wallin was born on Tuesday, December 3, 1912 in Cherokee, Iowa to Carl and Lydia (Lundeen) Wallin. She was the seventh of thirteen children born to Carl and Lydia. At the age of seven her family moved to Sioux Falls, SD it is here she received her education. On July 18, 1938 Agnes was united in marriage with Donald Huizenga, the couple made their home in Sioux Falls. Donald died on September 27, 1989. Agnes worked for many years and many positions at the Manchester Biscuit Company, with her favorite being on the cookie line. She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls.
Agnes enjoyed music and learned how to play the piano in her later years, she loved spending time in her backyard, gardening, tending to her flowers and bird watching. But above all her family and faith were most important in her life. Agnes became a “second mother” to many of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; watching them while there parents were away or buying them gifts at the many garage sales she attended. She also served as the family historian by taking numerous pictures at the many family functions throughout the years.
Grateful for having shared her life are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lydia; husband, Donald; five brothers, Carl, Clarence, Leonard, Daryl and Donald Wallin; seven sisters, Florence Anderson, Gladys Murphy, Mabel Jaqua, Alice Bird, Ruth Hanten, Beatrice Peterson and Bernice Clark.
